The labyrinth was created with dowsing instruments, clothesline, construction flags and a riding mower.
L-rods were used to locate the labyrinth's center and to establish the14 ft. diameter of the goal area. Dowsing determined that the walls, represented by prairie grass, would be twice as wide as the paths. Construction flags were used as markers to indicate where to cut.
Overhead from the North facing South - 4 benches are in the center.

The pattern was laid out and cut with a riding mower on March 23, 1995 just after the Spring Equinox by
Toby Evans and Mary K Barge.
There is a water dome beneath the goal area with 5 veins.
The diameter is 166 ft.

The Prairie Labyrinth differs from other
labyrinths because of the wide sections of grass used as the "wall" area.
This is a living labyrinth so depending on the season, the entire formation
changes in appearance.
Taken in Autumn. Grass is 6-8ft. tall.

The growing season takes off in early June as the faster growing
Big Blue stem has a jumpstart over the Indian and Switch grasses.

By the end of September,
the grasses reach their full height (6-8ft) creating a tunnel effect of
golden waves enveloping each person in a sensory experience of smells,
sounds and sights.

A controlled ring-head burn is planned with two ignition and containment teams moving in opposite directions around the circumference of the land. The fire is directed to burn toward the center allowing the labyrinth to be the last area to burn.

This is the only time you can see the entire unicursal design with all the paths exposed just as you would experience on most labyrinths

The Prairie Labyrinth is 45 minutes
from the K.C. metro area.
Individuals or groups who desire to experience
its' balancing energies
should e-mail Toby to set up an appointment to
visit.
